Fox management trial continues to protect turtle eggs in CQ

Gladstone Regional council are implementing a six month program to curve a pest to the environment.

Foxes are an invasive species causing serious harm to our local environment, and wildlife, particularly turtles.

The council is calling for residents to be part of the solution and earn $15 per fox tail through Council’s 6-month Invasive Fox Control Program.

Tails must be collected in the Gladstone Region and submitted in accordance with the program requirements.

Foxes (Vulpes vulpes) are opportunistic predators that threaten native wildlife, particularly ground-nesting birds and small mammals. Their presence has led to the severe decline and, in some cases, extinction of native species. 

Only the tail of the fox must be collected and submitted in one piece. to the council to claim the reward.

Participants in the bounty program must schedule an appointment in advance to submit the fox tail.
