Rockhampton boy, 17, charged after two attempted armed robberies

A CQ boy has been charged by police following investigations into two attempted armed robberies in Rockhampton last week.

It’s alleged on Sunday night the boy entered a service station on the corner of Kent Lane and Albert Street allegedly armed with a hammer.

He began demanding cash and cigarettes from an employee before fleeing the store without money or property.

The next morning, Monday, police say he entered a Dean Street business and approached an employee demanding vapes, and smashing a display cabinet with a hammer before fleeing the store empty handed.

In both incidents, no one was physically injured.

A 17-year-old Rockhampton City boy has been charged with two counts each of attempted armed robbery, and enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.

He will appear before Rockhampton Childrens Court next week, on June 10.
