A man has been charged with rape and attempted murder after an alleged attack on a woman at a Rockhampton walking track.
About 10.30am Sunday, January 25, a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man in the vicinity of Yeppen Lagoon.
The woman was taken to hospital for medical treatment and support, with police launching a manhunt and setting up a crime scene in Yeppen Lagoon’s north in the vicinity of a walking track adjacent to the nearby rugby field’s car park.
Investigations led to the location and arrest of the 27-year-old Victorian man at in Hervey Bay yesterday, January 26.
He is due in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court today, charged with three counts of rape and one count of attempted murder.
Investigators are continuing to appeal for information, particularly information or vision of a dark blue 2008 Toyota two door hatchback from the Yeppen Lagoon area around the time of the alleged offence.
