A road safety operation has wrapped up in Rockhampton.

The initiative, part of Operation Yankee Interpose, focused on disrupting unsafe road behaviours.

The seven-day operation between 20 and 26 April saw additional officers deployed on local streets and highways in both marked and unmarked vehicles to enhance community safety.

During the deployment, officers conducted more than 1,000 roadside breath tests (RBTs) and more than 70 roadside drug tests (RDTs).

One RBT led to 61-year-old Calliope man being charged with drink driving following a traffic intercept on Gladstone Road on Monday 20 April where he allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.062 percent.

He is expected to appear at the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday 18 May.

More than 180 traffic infringements were also issued throughout the operation.

This included a 32-year-old Gracemere woman, who was issued a $1,919 fine on 20 April for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h on Woodbury Road.

Officers subsequently performed a Roadside Drug Test (RDT), and the woman returned a positive result for a relevant substance.

The woman has been charged with drug driving and is expected to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates court on 26 June.
