Powerlink Queensland plays a critical role in powering the state’s future, delivering high-voltage electricity transmission services across a vast and essential network. As a Queensland Government-owned corporation, Powerlink is responsible for transporting electricity from generators to distribution networks and large industrial customers, supporting more than five million Queenslanders and over 241,000 businesses.
The organisation operates an extensive transmission network stretching approximately 1,700 kilometres from Cairns in Far North Queensland to the New South Wales border. This network includes more than 15,500 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and over 150 substations, forming the backbone of Queensland’s electricity supply system. Through this infrastructure, Powerlink ensures electricity is delivered safely, reliably and efficiently to homes, businesses and essential services across the state.
Powerlink’s work goes beyond simply transporting electricity.
