The Hearing Centre Gladstone

As the owners of the Hearing Centre Gladstone, I feel it’s best you should know a little bit about us. I (Alan) have approximately 25 years in the hearing industry, starting out in my parents’ clinic for 10 years. From there, I continued in the audiology industry, working for other providers – providing hearing services and building up the clinics in Brisbane and mainly in Inverell with the view of moving, as the city life is just not for me.

After 5 years travelling out to Inverell, the company I was working for advised that they wanted to keep it as a visiting site and declined the relocation of us to there, so when another company approached me to move to Gladstone, we accepted without hesitation. We moved to Gladstone approximately 14 years ago, setting up Connect Hearing and then Attune Hearing. 

Throughout my career, I have won several awards. In 2006, at my parent’s clinic, we won a National Award for Excellence in hearing care. I also won several others throughout my career; however, the best award I won was a trip to the Cook Islands to test and fit approximately 150 children at Rarotonga, which was a wonderful and rewarding experience.

Moving to Gladstone has also been a wonderful experience, especially coming from Brisbane. The lifestyle is much more relaxed, and we have finally achieved our goals and dreams of opening our own clinic – The Hearing Centre Gladstone 2/34 Tank Street – which has certainly been a challenge, but well worth the effort. Being a full-time clinic, we specialise in:

• HSP hearing aid fitting and rehabilitation
• Diagnostic Hearing Assessments for adults and children over 6 years
• Hearing aid fitting and rehabilitation all brands
• Employment testing including free field
• School screens
• Free screening

Being locally owned and operated, we pride ourselves on giving back to the community both in time and money, and after 6 months, we have donated and sponsored several Gladstone events and look forward to doing more as we evolve.

The next project I am working on is to host in Gladstone (the first in Australia that I am aware of) a hearing health expo for the public – involving all related hearing health products and services with displays and guest speakers.
