Passion for the ocean? Join CQUniversity Gladstone’s Coastal Marine Ecosystems Research Centre (CMERC) for community seagrass flower collection days. Collect seagrass flowers to obtain seeds for experiments, increasing seagrass abundance and genetic variability. 

Collection days: September 6 and October 6, free for Gladstone Region community members.

• Seagrass Supports diverse ecosystems, provides vital habitats, and aids in coastal protection and climate mitigation.
• Health of seagrass ecosystems: Pressures affecting Gladstone Harbour’s seagrass; community help needed for research and restoration.
• Aiming to restore local seagrass meadow at Pelican Banks.
• Great day out for families, educating young people about marine habitats.
