23-year-old man charged after alleged CBD shooting

Detectives from the Rockhampton Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 23-year-old man, following an incident on May 11.

CIB detectives say around 7pm, the 23-year-old man entered a Cambridge Street venue, before leaving shortly after and returning to his white Toyota Hilux.

It will be alleged around 7.15pm, a 36-year-old Rockhampton man exited the venue and walked across the road, when the 23-year-old man followed in his vehicle and fired a single short from a firearm towards the older man.

The 36-year-old man was uninjured, and a nearby parked car was allegedly damaged by a projectile.

Police say the 23-year-old man then fled in the Hilux.

Detectives will also allege the men were known to each other.

The 23-year-old Rockhampton man was arrested in Alberton on May 17 and charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, unlawful possession of weapons category D/H/R – short firearm in public, authority required to possess explosives, possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 1 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 4, contravening order about information necessary to access information stored electronically, and seven counts of possessing dangerous drugs.


He was refused bail and appeared in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court yesterday.
