Dozens of people have been charged with more than 400 offences during the State Flying Squad’s deployment to Rockhampton.
Operation Xray Crosscut commenced on October 27 and as of Monday 15 December, has resulted in 80 people being arrested on 413 charges.
The SFS have provided an investigative surge capacity, giving the district’s existing police extra boots on the ground to apprehend offenders, support victims and increase police visibility to deter future criminal activity.
Over the week-long deployment, SFS officers charged 42 people with 147 offences.
During the deployment, SFS and local Capricornia officers executed a search warrant at an address in Frenchville, locating and seizing numerous drugs and utensils.
A 45-year-old Frenchville man was charged with four counts of possess dangerous drugs and one count each of possess relevant substance, contravene order for access, offence to possess S4 medicine, possess property suspected of being the proceeds of a drug offence, possess property suspected of being used in a drug offence and possess property suspected of being used in a drug offence.
He is expected to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on December 19.
Capricornia District Superintendent Mark Burgess said support for the district has helped achieve great results so far.
“We expect these outcomes to continue as we keep targeting property offenders and doing everything we can to reduce, deter, and prevent crime as part of Operation Xray Crosscut,” said Superintendent Burgess.
“We’ve seen promising results from local officers supported by specialist units, and we will continue to take strong action against any and all criminal activity in our community.”
SFS Detective Inspector Joe Nixon said this deployment shows the SFS’s versatility and willingness to deploy wherever they are needed most, including to Queensland’s Capricornia District.
“Queensland communities all deserve to feel safe and the SFS will continue to travel to the state’s crime hotspots as required, to support local officers and enable more effective and efficient policing operations,” Detective Inspector Nixon said.
