A Final Boundary Review has recommended that no changes be made to the borders of Livingstone and Rockhampton.

The Local Government Change Commission released its report on Tuesday.

“After assessing the available material, Ministerial directions and relevant legislative provisions, the Change Commission recommends that there be no change to the current boundary between the Livingstone Shire Council and the Rockhampton Regional Council and that the suburbs of
Glenlee, Rockyview and Glendale remain part of the Livingstone Shire Council,” the report reads.

Mayor Andy Ireland says Livingstone Shire Council is pleased with the recommendation that Livingstone’s boundaries be left alone.

“I’ve always maintained that this process was an unnecessary distraction from the real work of local government.

“Livingstone and Rockhampton are interdependent communities and we commit to working collaboratively for the benefit of residents of both shires now and into the future.”

A final decision will be made by the Minister for Local Government and Planning, Steven Miles, at a later date.
