A man has died following a bus crash in the Livingstone region, while on his way to start the school pick-up run in Emu Park.
Police say the bus was travelling along Emu Park Road near Thompson Point Road at Nankin around 5am yesterday, when it struck two camels and went down an embankment .
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a man in his 40s, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.
The two camels, believed to have escaped from a nearby property, also died as a result of the incident.
Detective Inspector Luke Peachey says investigations are ongoing.
“What we will be doing is seeking anyone who might have any dashcam footage that might be able to assist our Forensic Crash Unit investigators with that, if they can contact Rockhampton Police.
Obviously a tragic day for the family and friends of that bus driver and our thoughts, thoughts of police, go out to him.
