Rockhampton detectives are investigating after a 73-year-old woman was assaulted during an attempted robbery at an address in Park Avenue last night.
Around 11pm the power supply to the Main Street home suddenly went out.
The woman exited the home and while checking the switchboard she was struck from behind, hit in the head with an unknown implement.
A male, yelled at the woman, while a second male conducted a quick search of the house.
The pair fled empty handed soon after.
The woman was transported to Rockhampton Hospital and treated for a laceration to the back of her head and bruising to her arms.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the general vicinity last night to contact them. Home and business owners are also asked to check their CCTV.
