Works are underway to give a section of Stanwell Waroula Road a major upgrade.

Rockhampton Councillor Ellen Smith says the Rockhampton Region’s rural roads are crucial in connecting our residents.

“This project is a testament to our commitment to creating safer and more accessible roads for the community,” she says.

“Crews will undertake a range of works including widening the road, bitumen sealing, and extending culverts to enhance road infrastructure.

“Once finished, the works will collectively reduce the risk of accidents, providing safer and more efficient transportation options for road users.

“Residents can anticipate reduced travel times as a result of the road widening, leading to a more efficient and convenient daily commute.

“The wider road widths will also accommodate heavy vehicles and vulnerable road users, ensuring smoother and safer transportation. Emergency vehicle access will also be improved, enhancing response times during critical situations.

“While construction may cause short-term road closures and delays, the long-term benefits include will outweigh the impacts.

“I want to thank the Australian Government for their contribution to this project and thank the community for their understanding during these works.”
