Man to front court after crash at Boyne Island

A 35-year-old man has been refused bail and will face court today after a crash at Boyne Island.

It will be alleged that around 5:00pm on Friday, a 2019 brown Mazda BT-50 was travelling westbound on Boyne Island Road before colliding with the trailer of a Western Star prime mover, causing the Mazda to lose control and further collide with a 2020 grey LDV T60 dual cab travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the LDV T60, a 53-year-old Herston woman was transported to Gladstone Hospital for treatment, while the driver of the prime mover was not physically injured.

The 35-year-old Boyne Island man who police say was driving the Mazda was also taken to Hospital with injuries, and has since been charged.

He faces dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, driving under the influence of liquor.

He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court today. 

Investigators from the Forensic Crash Unit are appealing for anyone who may have seen either vehicle prior to the crash, or may have relevant dashcam or CCTV video footage, to come forward.
