Rockhampton locals can now request a Mobile Police Beat, also known as a ‘police station on wheels’ be deployed to their local neighbourhood.

The ‘Bring the Beat’ police engagement program has implemented around Queensland and helps police know where community members and business owners would like to see them.

Operating across Rockhampton initially, community members can request a Mobile Police Beat to the their choice of location where officers will be on the ground to discuss crime prevention and provide advice to members of the community.

Local residents can now submit a form online on their local myPolice webpage to request a deployment in their preferred location. These requests will be considered in line with operational demands.

Capricornia District Officer Superintendent Mark Burgess said the Bring the Beat program will provide greater access to policing resources to Capricornia District residents.

“Mobile Police Beats will ensure an agile high-visibility presence in hotspots and allow residents to be active participants in helping enhance the safety and security of their communities,” the Superintendent said.

“Mobile Police Beats are the hallmark of a modern, agile, proactive police service for residents, creating the ability for police to deliver a highly visible presence with officers able to respond when and where needed swiftly”,” he said

“Community members will be able to collaborate with police to ensure the Mobile Police Beat is deployed to the right location at the right time.”

Police say one key advantage of Mobile Police Beats is their ability to provide immediate access to police at large events and various operating environments.

This enables rapid responses and targeted actions against specific crime issues, ensuring the safety and security of the community.

From within the Mobile Police Beat, officers can take crime reports and victim statements, conduct field interviews and increase safety with a more visible policing presence. The Mobile Police Beat gives the public access to police services, seek advice and discuss local crime issues directly
