Mount Morgan and Curtis Island ‘suspicious’ fires investigated

Police are appealing for dashcam footage of the Burnett Highway at Mount Morgan, following several suspicious grass fires.

Police say, since Wednesday June 21 there have been six vegetation fires at rest stops on the Burnett Highway, which they believe are arson.

Another six fires in the same area, dating back to October last year, are also being investigated.

If you have any information, police want to hear from you.

Meanwhile investigators believe a Curtis Island bushfire was deliberately lit, on May 28.

The fire ignited in a restricted access area that is closed to the public and burnt through around 1000 hectares of the marine plain.
