Mount Morgan man in custody after alleged robbery with weapon

A 19-year-old man has been charged, accused of a robbery with violence at Rockhampton on Tuesday.

Police say in the afternoon at Allenstown, the man approached a food van and threatened a woman inside with weapon before stealing a pair of keys. He’s alleged to then have driven off with the woman’s car.

Police later found the vehicle in bushland near Dee St at Mount Morgan, alongside another car believed to have been stolen that day.

A 19-year-old Mount Morgan man and a 14-year-old Gracemere boy were both taken into custody in a nearby residence.

The14-year-old boy is assisting police with enquiries.

The 19-year-old man from Mount Morgan has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count each of wilful damage, enter premises and commit, robbery, obstruct police officer, and driving without a license.

He’s been remanded in custody and is due to reappear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court on July 2.
