A person has been airlifted from the scene of a serious crash between Mackay and Rockhampton.
Around 12.10pm Monday, a car towing a caravan crashed on the Bruce Highway near Ogmore.
A female driver, aged in her 70s, sustained injuries as a result of the crash.
CapRescue’s specialist critical care medical team and aircrew treated the woman at the scene before she was airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition for further medical care.
Chief Executive Officer of CapRescue Darren Pirie said the response highlighted the importance of having a 24/7 emergency helicopter service available across the region.
“The Bruce Highway is a critical transport corridor for both locals and travellers, but unfortunately it is also the scene of many serious incidents,” Mr Pirie said.
“Our crew were able to provide rapid medical care and safe transport to hospital, which is exactly why the community continues to support the vital work of CapRescue.”
