A staggering amount of high range speeders have been caught in the past fortnight.
Latest road statistics for the Capricornia District have revealed that 10 drivers were caught going more than 40km/h over the speed limit.
High speed offences included:
- 144km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Dawson Highway, Calliope
- 143km/h in a 100km/h zone on Yeppoon Road, Norman Gardens
- 127km/h in an 80km/h zone on the Dawson Highway, Clinton
- 154km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Capricorn Highway, Westwood
- 124km/h in a 70km/h zone on Yaamba Road, Parkhurst
- 142km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Bruce Highway, East End
- 81km/h in a 40km/h School Zone on Yaamba Road, Parkhurst
- 142km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Bruce Highway, Yaamba
- 144km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Bruce Highway, Colosseum
- 165km/h in a 100km/h zone on Yeppoon Road, Norman Gardens
Four high-range drink drivers have also been charged, with all four blowing more than three times the legal limit.
High-range drink driving readings:
- 0.153% on Yeppoon Road, Limestone Creek
- 0.167% on Drynan Drive, Calliope
- 0.174% on Littlefield Street, Blackwater
- 0.161% on Yeppoon Road, Norman Gardens
Police continue to crack down on hooning in the region as well, charging a driver and impounding their vehicle for 90 days.
The motorist initially evaded police on Dawson Road at Clinton, but was later intercepted, arrested and charged.
Regular high visibility patrols and traffic enforcement operations will continue in the region to reduce the loss of lives and injuries on our roads.
