Thousands of Central Queenslanders have flocked to Yeppoon’s Main Beach for this year’s Capricorn Coast Great Australia Day Beach Party.
It’s estimated up to 15,000 people attended across the day, in a welcome boost for local shops, cafes, restaurants, clubs and hotels.
Capricorn Coast Community Events chairman Mr Bill Ludwig says the event was a huge success.
“We knew we in for a big day form 6.30am when people started rolling-up in numbers early to take part in the Australia Day Family Fun Run coordinated by the Cap Coast Runners,” Mr Ludwig says.
“From the Capricornian Beach Games and CQ Today Sand Sculpture competition to the Bare Bottom Boat Regatta and on water activities there was no shortage of enthusiastic participants.
Mr Ludwig has praised both the CCCE organising committee, SES volunteers and everyone who assisted in staging and coordinating the event.
“The outstanding effort that everyone puts in both to staging of this signature community event for our region is truly amazing and a reflection of the community spirit that Australia Day brings out when we all come together to celebrate our national day.
