Interest sought for paid Director for Gladstone 2019 Community Musical Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre (GECC) is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the paid position of Director of the Gladstone 2019 Community Musical. Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said local community members and residents in the Gladstone and/or Capricornia Region with experience in theatre, drama, teaching, music, or similar were invited to nominate their interest. “Community musicals are a biennial highlight on the Gladstone Region calendar presented by GECC as part of its Public Programs, supporting arts and cultural development in our community,” Councillor Burnett said. Councillor Cindi Bush said the musical title was still under negotiation between GECC management and the licensing agent however it was expected the title would be announced next month. “This is an exciting opportunity for suitable industry and community applicants to deliver the highly regarded community musical production,” Cr Bush said. “Our community musicals boast a very successful history with shows attracting strong audience support and production cast and crew gaining extensive theatre experience,” she said. The director will oversee the entire aspect of the musical from casting to final curtain and must be available from August 1 this year to March 31 next year. To apply for the position of Community Musical Director, applicants must be legally eligible* to apply for a working with children blue card and it will be a condition of engagement that Council receives a positive notice prior to commencement.
