EXERCISE EXODUS TESTS EMERGENCY RESPONSE Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) and stakeholders at Fisherman’s Landing have tested their communication and evacuation processes in an emergency response exercise. Exercise Exodus simulated a motor vehicle accident on site, resulting in a ruptured pipeline and an uncontrolled product. GPC CEO Peter O’Sullivan said that the cooperation of stakeholders, including Fisherman’s Landing tenants, nearby industry, emergency services and Maritime Safety Queensland, made the exercise a success. “Field exercises such as this provide us with an opportunity to assess the effectiveness of our communication and processes,” Mr O’Sullivan said. “The outcomes help inform any changes required to the Fisherman’s Landing Emergency Management Plan to ensure that we can act quickly and appropriately in the event an incident does occur.” The site was evacuated without incident and employees were able to return to work following the completion of the exercise. A full review of the events will be conducted to identify any continuous improvement opportunities.
