Three neighbouring councils all with winning edge in Qantas Pilot academy bid
A neighbourhood war continues to brew today with Rockhampton, Gladstone and Mackay regional council's all claiming they've got the winning edge when it comes to the Qantas Group Pilot Training Academy bid.
The Queensland Government last week lodged the regions' formal bids to be the preferred city to host the $20 million dollar academy.
Qantas’ demands range from technical airport requirements, specific accommodation needs, lifestyle factors, education and health facilities, administration and appropriate weather.
Mackay and Gladstone Newscorp publications both indicate their regions tick all the boxes but it'll be a tough competition, fighting off 40 other airports Australia wide.
Qantas is expected to release a short-list of applicants in two weeks’ time.
