BREAKING | Mackay Police Chase Spills Into Rockhampton Region

UPDATE | We are being urged to be on the lookout for a black Falcon, stolen from Mackay on Wednesday, and which has sparked a Police chase on Thursday.

Police received a call about the driver of the stolen vehicle doing burnouts at around 10:50AM at the Sarina Showgrounds on Thursday.

Officers went to the Showgrounds and the driver is accused of speeding off along the Bruce Highway towards Mackay.

It is believed that Police lost sight of the car but several members of the general public have rung in to say they have seen it.

It was last seen in the Hay Point area at 12:10PM and hasn't been seen since.

Police have confirmed they are searching for a Black Falcon with fair amount of mud on it with possibly just the driver inside.

If you spot the vehicle, you are being urged to phone the Police and let them know.

The last known sighting is now in the St Lawrence area, meaning the case is expected to be handed to Rockhampton Police.

EARLIER | We are being urged to give the Bruce Highway between Mackay and Sarina a wide berth on Thursday.

We have been told that several police cars are possibly pursuing a black Falcon along that stretch of road.

A Police Media spokesperson said they have been called to a job on the Bruce Highway at Rosella but wouldn't provide any more details than that.

We will bring you more information when we have it.
