Yeppoon Emergency Shelter Gets $5000 Upgrade
The Yeppoon State High School has received a $5000 Community Fund grant.
The cash comes from Energy Queensland and will allow the school to upgrade its Emergency Communications Shelter on the grounds.
Member for Keppel and Assistant Education Minister Brittany Lauga said the $5000 would go towards the purchase and installation of a PA system, projector and screen for the Yeppoon Public Cyclone Shelter located at the Yeppoon State High School.
“This will assist communication with evacuees during an activation of the shelter.”
Mrs Lauga said the upgrade will help to reduce the stress and anxiety experienced by evacuees during an emergency event.
“The improvement will assist in building community resilience and support Yeppoon State High School and community groups who utilise the facility,” she said.
