Drunk Driving Among US College Students Still at an Alarming Rate

A man has been charged with drink driving after he was reportedly spotted swerving and hit a concrete island in the middle of the road in Rockhampton.  

The 55-year-old Yeppoon man behind the wheel was allegedly intercepted on Fitzroy Street on Tuesday.

The driver was breath tested, allegedly returning a breath alcohol concentration (BAC) reading of 0.276, more than five times the legal limit.

The man was taken into custody and his licence was suspended.

He will appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on November 19.
