CQUni campus transforms into community hub
CQUniversity's Yeppoon campus may only have months left, but 2020 won't be the last time students walk through the doors.
The site is being turned into a training hub for adult and community education for Livingstone residents when the university ceases operations there at the end of the year.
Livingstone Shire Mayor Andy Ireland said the 1.2 hectare site had huge potential.
“This is a fantastic outcome for the wider community and will provide an opportunity for Council to appropriately accommodate important adult and community education activities,” Cr Ireland said.
CQUniversity Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Nick Klomp, said he was pleased that the facility would continue to support the local community.
“It’s fantastic to see Livingstone Shire Council repurposing the former CQUniversity facility and providing dedicated spaces for community use,” Professor Klomp said.
