Firies fight to extinguish Rocky recycling plant
Firefighters have worked throughout the night to extinguish a blaze at a Rockhampton recycling plant.
Emergency crews were called to the scene on Wade Street in Parkhurst just after 9:30pm on Monday evening where the structure was already well alight.
Multiple fire crews were working to dampen down hotspots after it was extinguished early Tuesday morning.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesperson said nearby residents may be affected by large amounts of smoke blowing towards Riverside.
"Residents are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by," the spokesperson said.
"Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions."
It is unknown at this stage what caused the fire.
