A young man has suffered serious facial and chest injuries after being trapped in a truck that flipped in Central Queensland this morning.

An RACQ Capricorn Rescue spokesperson says they were called to the scene just after 5:30am.

"Early this morning a large truck carrying timber logs overturned on the Gladstone Monto Road south of Calliope, causing the driver to remain entrapped for several
hours and sustain various injuries," the spokesperson says.

Three Queensland Fire and Emergency crews worked to free the patient in his 20s from the wreckage using hydraulic cutting equipment.

Around 7:15am, he was loaded onto a stretcher ready to be flown to Rockhampton Hospital for treatment.

"Suffering serious head and lower limb injuries, the patient aged in their mid-20’s was extracted from the vehicle and stabilised at the scene prior to being airlifted to Rockhampton Base Hospital in a serious condition."

The rescue chopper transported him in a serious but stable condition.
