Lewis Hamilton is mourning the death of his beloved dog, Roscoe, following a battle with pneumonia.
Hamilton had missed a Pirelli tyre test last week to be by Roscoe’s side after the dog was admitted to the hospital and placed in a coma.
On Monday, the Formula 1 driver shared an emotional social media post, confirming that Roscoe had passed away in his arms on Sunday evening.
The news comes five years after Hamilton’s other dog, Coco, also passed away.
“After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe,” wrote Hamilton. “He never stopped fighting, right until the very end.
“I feel so grateful and honoured to have shared my life with such a beautiful soul, an angel and true friend. Bringing Roscoe into my life was the best decision I ever made, and I will forever cherish the memories we created together.
“Thank you all for the love and support you’ve shown Roscoe over the years. It has been so special to witness and feel.”
Roscoe was loved around the Formula 1 paddocks with the official F1 Social accounts posting “Rest in Peace Roscoe Hamilton, a true star in his own right
Lewis Hamilton’s beloved Roscoe brought smiles to the paddock and warmed the hearts of fans all over the world. Our thoughts are with Lewis during this difficult time.
Rest easy Roscoe, from paddock pup to Dogue icon, thank you for the pawprints you left on all of our hearts”
There’ no doubt we are going to miss seeing those images of Lewis walking with Roscoe in the upcoming broadcasts of the Formula 1 series, our hearts go out to Lewis at this difficult time. Anyone who has lost a pet is certainly feeling the pain with him.
