Taste Capricorn Coast is gaining recognition after being named a finalist at the National Economic Development Awards.

The food trail Website helps residents and visitors explore all the flavours of the region from its eateries, markets, and farm experiences.

CEO of Capricorn Enterprise Mary Carroll says it has provided visitors and locals with the opportunity to know exactly where their food has come from.

“Taste Capricorn Coast assists to guide and educate the locavores in our community to access the many and varied options on the Capricorn Coast.”

“Capricorn Enterprise is extremely proud of this project. We have an incredible amount of local passion and knowledge in one community and as the increasing appetite for ‘home-grown’ further develops, this is the first step in putting the Capricorn Coast on the map as a culinary destination of choice,” said Ms Carroll.

Livingstone Mayor Andrew Ireland says it’s been essential in economic recovery of the Capricorn Coast following the bush fires.

“This project has boosted visitor numbers to our region who then explore and stay overnight to appreciate and experience our first class agri-tourism industry,” he says.

“In addition, the project has increased awareness across the community of the need to conserve our natural environment and support local farmers.
