Netflix has dropped a bombshell at its 2024 Upfront presentation in New York City’s Pier 59 Studios, announcing the comeback of the 57-year-old comedy icon to reprise his role in a much-anticipated sequel to the 1996 hit ‘Happy Gilmore’.
The original film, a cult classic that raked in over three times its budget, showcased Sandler as a hot-headed ex-hockey player turned golf prodigy, swinging his way to save his grandma’s house.
Given its roaring success and Sandler’s magnetic charm, it’s a no-brainer for Netflix to bring back the magic of Happy Gilmore.
The buzz around this sequel sparked earlier this year when friend and co-star Drew Barrymore spilled the beans about Sandler penning a follow-up to their beloved sports comedy.
